Let’s be honest… There’s so many EV rebate and incentive programs in California that it seems too good to be true. It feels like a sham. We hear that a lot.The reality is that it’s not too good to be true.
In fact, many of these incentive programs are so good that it can be a no-brainer financial decision for a property owner to install EV charging infrastructure. Here’s a quick overview of just a few of the programs being offered currently:
Statewide Programs
CALeVIP: Incentives for Level 2 and DC fast chargers to expand public EV charging.
Communities in Charge: Funding for Level 2 chargers at schools, healthcare centers, and community sites, with extra support for multifamily housing and Tribal communities.
Clean Transportation Program: $1.4 billion invested in zero-emission infrastructure, with 50% benefiting priority populations.
Utility Company Programs
SCE Charge Ready: Incentives for Level 2 chargers at apartments, workplaces, and fleet operations.
PG&E EV Fast Charge: Rebates for DC fast chargers and $700 for income-eligible residential EV chargers.
LADWP Charge Up LA!: Rebates for residential and commercial Level 2 chargers.
Local & Regional Incentives
SCAQMD Residential EV Program: Up to $500 for a qualifying Level 2 home charger.
BAAQMD Charge! Program: Grants for public EV charging stations in the Bay Area.

We could add dozens more to this list… The point is that the incentives and rebates available for EV infrastructure are actually powerful tools that significantly reduce the initial investment required for installation, making EV charging stations far more accessible for businesses.
These financial incentives often cover a large portion of the upfront costs, including the installation of Level 2 chargers or DC fast charging stations. By leveraging these programs, businesses can avoid a significant capital expenditure, allowing them to invest that capital elsewhere or use the savings to improve their overall infrastructure.
These reduced costs directly translate to increased profitability. With the financial burden lightened, businesses can quickly realize a positive return on investment (ROI).
Moreover, property values increase when businesses are equipped with modern amenities like EV charging stations. Tenants and customers alike are increasingly seeking sustainable, forward-thinking spaces, and providing EV charging infrastructure meets this growing demand. Long-term, this can also lead to higher tenant retention rates and a more competitive edge in attracting high-value clientele.
